## Quick answer

Share a Wanderin list. Anyone can open the link with no sign-up, and where you sleep stays secret. They get the places, the prices and the winner. They do not get your hotel, which is nobody else's business.

Share a Wanderin list. Anyone can open it with no sign-up, and where you sleep stays secret.

**A search that starts at your hotel should not end up telling the group chat which hotel.** Recommending a good ramen place should not double as your whereabouts.

## How do you share a list of places on Google Maps?

On the phone app, [open your saved list and tap Share](https://support.google.com/maps/answer/7280933?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid). On a computer, [go to Saved, then the More menu beside your list](https://support.google.com/maps/answer/7280933?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop). It works well for a list you built by hand. Before you send it, look at what the list shows, and take out anything near your bed.

## What are the risks of location sharing?

Mostly that a link travels further than you meant. Group chats get forwarded and screenshots live forever. Three habits cover most of it:

- Share places, not your live location, unless you really need to be found.
- Tell people where you stayed after you have left, not before.
- Check what a link reveals before you post it publicly.

## How to make a Google Maps travel list?

Save each place to a named list as you find it, one list per trip, and add a note saying why you saved it. A list called "Lisbon" is useful. A list called "Want to go" with four hundred pins is an archaeological site.

## Why should a good tip give away your room?

It should not. Every Wanderin list is shareable as a link: no sign-up for your friend, no app to install, and your hotel stays out of it. They see the winner, the distances and the prices.
